Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg behind the scenes on Raiders of the Lost Ark
While filming Temple of Doom, Harrison Ford irritated an old back injury due to the fact that he had to spend two weeks riding on the back of an elephant. He experienced increasing back pain and went to a doctor who said he had slipped disc. This injury resulted in scenes being deleted, such as a cursed Indy kidnapping Willie from the palace to be used as a sacrifice The pain got so bad that he would lay on a gurney between his takes and then had to walked through his scenes. While filming a sequence where he has to roll over the back of one of the Thuggie soldiers the disc ruptured. He was flown to LA for back surgery and was off the set for over a month.
“We did a costume and make-up test on Harrison and I had to kinda walk out of the light a few feet just to take a few deep breaths before going back to work because seeing him looking that good, it was kinda like what happened to last 19 years—how the heck did they go by that fast? my god—and that was scary, but it was also beautiful.” Steven Speilberg; pre-production of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
100% certain Steven just admitted his man crush.
